Today our class chose three of their most gentle and caring class members to take care of our new class minibeasts, mealworms. They will be changing overtime into darkling beetles but need to be taken care of correctly. Mealworms only need a little piece of apple or carrot each day to receive enough food and water. They love digging in oat bran and hiding under egg cartons which are also perfect for the adult beetle to lay her eggs on later.
We also had three more minibeast photos uploaded to our website photo gallery by students.
Finally, we spent time exploring the Museum Victoria site Bug Catcher which was fantastic and will be an excellent and reliable source for our research project. We are selecting our minibeasts next week and have created our research questions together as a class. It was a VERY busy lesson!
